PRESS RELEASE
PARTNERSHIP FOR NEW YORK CITY
New York, New York
October 8, 2009
The Partnership for New York City today announced the selection of 19 senior business executives as David Rockefeller Fellows. Over the next eleven months these future civic leaders will learn the ins and outs of the City and how to become great corporate citizens of New York, following the lead of the Partnership’s founder, David Rockefeller.
More than 250 executives have served as David Rockefeller Fellows since the program’s inception in 1989. Every year, a new class of Fellows is nominated by CEOs who are members of the Partnership. The Fellows follow a rigorous schedule of meetings and field visits designed to give rising executives an insider understanding of what makes the city tick and how they can make a difference here. As the year progresses, the Fellows form a leadership network across industries and disciplines which strengthens the fabric of the City’s business community. Last year’s class of Rockefeller Fellows met privately with Joel Klein, Randi Weingarten, and Barry Diller, and visited the Con Edison Energy Control Center and Rikers Island.
“The 2009-2010 David Rockefeller Fellows reflect the talent and civic commitment of New York’s business community,” said Kathryn Wylde, President & CEO of the Partnership for New York City. “An engaged and knowledgeable business leadership is even more important during times of economic challenge. These Fellows will help ensure that future generations of New Yorkers help advance our city's best interests."
