PRESS RELEASE
PARTNERSHIP FOR NEW YORK CITY
New York, New York
January 12, 2010
"Governor Paterson’s action to consolidate state agencies is long overdue. He is reversing Albany’s tendency to expand the state payroll in order to compensate for the loss of private sector jobs. We can no longer afford that approach. The consolidation announced today eliminates waste in agencies with overlapping and redundant functions. This is an important first step toward effective management of our out-sized state government."
The Partnership for New York City (www.pfnyc.org) is a network of business leaders dedicated to enhancing the economy of the five boroughs of New York City and maintaining the city’s position as the center of world commerce, finance and innovation. Partnership companies account for nearly 7 million American jobs and contribute over $740 billion to the national GDP.
